Rosa Parks: American civil rights activist (1913–2005)
Rosa Louise McCauley Parks was an American activist in the civil rights movement. She is best known for her refusal to move from her seat on a Montgomery, Alabama, bus, in defiance of Jim Crow laws, which sparked the Montgomery bus boycott. She is also sometimes known as the "mother of the civil rights movement".
