India has slammed the European Union's latest round of sanctions that target Nayara Energy’s Gujarat-based Vadinar refinery for its links to Russian oil giant Rosneft. As part of its 14th package of sanctions, the EU blacklisted 105 additional vessels and took aim at Nayara — the first Indian entity to face such direct action.
Brussels aims to throttle Moscow’s wartime funding, but New Delhi has accused the EU of "double standards" and reiterated its stance against unilateral sanctions. Nayara, heavily reliant on export markets in Europe and Africa, now faces disruptions, job threats, and uncertainty over Rosneft’s $20B stalled exit plan involving Reliance. India says it remains committed to its legal obligations but won’t compromise on energy security.
