Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged Russia to resume stalled peace talks, proposing a new round of negotiations next week. This plea follows a devastating Russian drone and missile strike on Odesa that killed at least one and injured six others. Zelenskyy confirmed that National Security and Defence Council head Rustem Umerov extended the offer, while reiterating his own readiness for a face-to-face meeting with Vladimir Putin. Meanwhile, tensions escalate as U.S. President Donald Trump issued a 50-day ceasefire ultimatum to Moscow, threatening harsh sanctions and vowing to boost arms support for Ukraine. Russia has not formally responded to the proposed talks, while Kremlin and military officials dismissed Western pressure as "blackmail." Despite diplomatic overtures, exchanges of fire continued on both sides, raising fears of further escalation in Europe’s deadliest conflict since WWII.
